Online Revision Course FAQs

About the courses

How do I enrol?
Simply select the subject(s) that you wish to enrol for and add them to your basket. Once you have completed your purchase, you will receive a confirmation email and a free download of the SwH Learning Perfect Answer Workbook (with answers). Make sure to check your junk mail if this doesn’t come through soon after purchase.

How much do the courses cost?
Each day costs £45 to attend. The price includes access to the course, a PDF version of SwH Learning Perfect Answer Workbook for the chosen subject(s) and access to a recording of the course once it has taken place.

Which platform will the revision courses be held on?
We are using Zoom to hold all our online revision courses.

When will the meeting links be sent out?
Joining instructions will be sent with your order confirmation email in the form of a PDF. Simply install Zoom to your computer or mobile device, follow the link on the PDF at the lesson start time and you will automatically join the course.

Why is each course split across two days?
We know that many students in the Middle East and across Asia sit IGCSEs, and a lot of you are keen users of the Science with Hazel YouTube channel. In order to ensure that as many of you as possible are able to join the courses, we have decided to divide each subject across two days. This means the courses will run in the morning for students in the UK, early afternoon for students in the Middle East and early evening for students in Asia.

I am an adult learner. Can I still enrol?
Yes! Our courses are suitable for private candidates, distance learners and homeschoolers of any age. It doesn’t matter whether you are taking your IGCSEs for the first time aged 16, or require a science qualification as part of a career move later in life – our courses are for you.

Will I be able to rewatch the courses after they have finished?
Yes. All courses will be recorded and uploaded soon after they have finished. All course attendees will then be sent a link to uploaded videos.

What time will the courses be held?
Registration will start at 9am (London, UK).

When should I complete the SwH Learning Workbooks?

The workbooks provided as part of this course are for you to attempt in your own time. We will be using long and short answer questions from real past paper questions to help cement your knowledge throughout the course, so feel free to complete the workbooks before or after the courses have taken place (or not at all!)

The workbook is for double award, but I am a triple award student. Can I get the correct workbook?

Of course. Just email hello@sciencewithhazel.co.uk and we’ll sort it out for you as soon as we can.

I am unable to join some of the live classes. Can I still access the recorded versions?
Yes. If you wish to access the recordings of the online revision courses without attending, recordings of the classes will be available to purchase through our website. More details on how this will work will be announced soon.

Who are the course leaders?
Hazel Lindsey – Creator of the Science with Hazel YouTube channel and co-author of The Perfect Answer Revision Guides. Graduate of St. John’s College, University of Cambridge (MA Cantab) and qualified secondary science teacher (PGCE).

Martin Bailey – Professional tutor and co-author of The Perfect Answer Revision Guides. Graduate of Trinity College, University of Cambridge (MA Cantab) and specialist Oxbridge applications consultant.

How will the content be taught?

The course leaders will each teach part of the course throughout the day. When one course leader is teaching, the other will be using Zoom chat to answer any questions from the attendees.

The course leaders will go through topic content, before providing past paper questions to help test knowledge and understanding, and highlight the key terms to use in order to score the highest marks.

Each day will be divided into 4 sessions, with a 10 minute break between each session.

You can download the indicative timetable here (the order of the topics covered are subject to change at the discretion of the course leaders).

Will I be able to ask questions throughout the course?

Yes. Although all participants will be muted throughout, you can use the Zoom chat function to ask questions at any point to whichever course leader is monitoring the chat.

I am taking Edexcel Double Award. Are these courses suitable for me?
Yes. The Edexcel IGCSE online revision courses will cover the content examined in Paper 1. This means they are suitable for both Triple and Double Award students.

Will the content from Edexcel IGCSE Paper 2 be covered?
We will hold additional revision courses over the May half-term covering the additional content examined on Paper 2. These courses will each be a single half-day and run from May 30th – June 1st.
